Monica da Silva and Chad Alger are a Brazilian American duo, who collaborate in life and through their music. Growing up back and forth between the United States and Brazil, Monica was greatly inspired by Brazilian music and culture, and the Portuguese language. Monica met guitarist and drummer Chad, while living in Chicago in early 2008. They bonded over a mutual love of international music, and began writing songs together. Most of the songs they composed were inspired by Bossa Nova of the 1950s and 60s, which took them far away from the blizzards of Chicago. Over the years, Monica and Chad have lived and toured all over the United States and Canada. The duo's original songs have been featured in the Golden Globe Award winning movie 'Lady Bird', in the Netflix movie "The Last Summer", on the Putumayo World Music compilation 'Brazilian Beat', in The 2014 FIFA World Cup, and in the 2019 Fall campaign for Tory Burch.
